On Being A Self Employed Business Owner

I've been self employed working from home for 13 years. I've done several things on my own but mainly ran my own medical billing service for 11 years. I've worked very hard and had no help at all from anyone. I proved to myself that I could do it on my own in a very hard business to run. It's hard when you have no direction or help from anyone, starting from scratch. I've also done a couple of things that were "team" oriented but again, once you get there you end up on your own.
I have found an awesome company, AmeriPan, now that has a great support system, great leaders and steps in place to make it an easy business to start. We are very lucky to be here and I thank God every day for connecting me with these people!
That being said, in any business you do remember to be yourself, don't get caught up in your own success so that it changes you or your attitude towards people.
If you come to a point in your life or business where it's all about pumping yourself up and blowing your own horn, that's when you need to step back and remind yourself why you started and why you're doing it. Most start a business, obviously to earn an income, but also to help people and to help others find a better way of life. It's about helping, answering questions, being supportive and not comparing what others have done to what you have. We're all human after all. We build teams and relationships every day in life and business. Don't let yourself get to that point, it would be awful to lose the respect of those who once looked up to you. ~pm

Great piece! Well said! Thankful for the journey we are all. However, most greatful for those who chose to also help when needed!
